Good things to know.
Do I have to be a coalition member to serve?
No. Committee service is open to members and non-members alike. Membership is free if you’d like to join, but it isn’t a requirement for serving.
How much time does a committee really take?
Most committees meet once a month for about an hour, usually between the monthly coalition meetings, plus occasional time around events or the grant cycle. Plan on roughly two hours a month.
Can I serve on more than one?
You can, though most people find one is plenty. If you’re torn between two, start with one for a cycle and add the second later if you have the capacity.
What if I join and it isn't the right fit?
That’s exactly why you sit in as a guest first. And there’s no lifetime appointment — you serve a cycle and can step back at any point with no hard feelings.
I'm in recovery. Is that welcome here?
Very much so, especially on the Recovery & Mental Wellness committee. Lived experience is one of the most valuable perspectives at the table, and your privacy is respected throughout.
